Five trails. One unforgettable day.

Every trail ends the same way — with a picnic you've earned.

The Town Stroll

Walking · 4–5 km · ~3 hrs · Easy · $249 for 2 (extra guests +$79pp)

Mudgee's heritage heart on foot: the Clock Tower, the 1862 Post Office, the gold-rush Court House, the Museum, Church Street's colonial churches and bakery, Three Tails Brewery and the riverside Sculpture Trail — 8 stops of riddles, stories and goodies, finishing with a picnic in Lawson Park beside the Cudgegong. Kids and adult puzzle versions. Best for couples, families and history lovers.

The Pedal & Picnic

Cycle or car · ~25 km · ~3.5 hrs · Moderate · $299 for 2 (extra guests +$79pp)

From Lawson Park along the bike trail to Putta Bucca Wetlands, up to organic-and-biodynamic Lowe Wines, on to High Valley Cheese and Gilbert Wines, and a lookout picnic at Flirtation Hill. E-bike hire available ($85/bike via EzyRide, basket included). Raining? The whole trail swaps to a car route — same clues, same goodies, same picnic.

The Northern Run

Drive · ~60 km return · ~4 hrs · Easy · $289 for 2 (extra guests +$99pp)

North through Budgee Budgee to the only brewery in Australia growing its own hops on-site, then into Gulgong — the gold-rush town on the old $10 note — for heritage streets and hidden clues, finishing with a lookout picnic over the valley. Designated driver required.

The Wine & Produce Trail

Drive · ~80 km loop · ~5 hrs · Easy · $369 for 2 (extra guests +$99pp)

The one for food lovers: First Ridge's Italian varietals, Aril Estate's olives, Althea by Zin sourdough, High Valley Cheese, Halliday five-star Robert Stein, and the sacred Hands on the Rock Wiradjuri site — ending with a picnic at The Drip gorge. Tastings saved for the finish; designated driver required.

Heritage & Nature

Full-day drive · ~120 km loop · ~6 hrs · Easy · $399 for 2 (extra guests +$99pp)

The big one. Hill End's preserved gold-rush streets (once NSW's largest inland city), sandstone Rylstone, Kandos (whose cement built the Sydney Harbour Bridge), the still waters of Windamere Dam — and the most earned picnic of all at The Drip.
